04 / Hey Arnold! The Movie / Tuck Tucker & Craig Bartlett
Hey Arnold was always one of my favourite Nicktoons as a kid so I'm not quite sure how it's taken me so long to watch this movie. As a film on it's own, Hey Arnold! The Movie it's not exactly ground breaking, like most movies made from cartoon series, it's really just an extended episode with a bigger budget, but as a huge fan of Hey Arnold, I couldn't really ask for much more. The story follows Arnold and friends trying to stop a big evil corporation from pulling down the neighbourhood and building a big mall. Which is the kind of plot that I have to admit normally really bothers me, but not in this case. The thing that really sells the movie, as with the TV show, is the amazingly rich cast of characters and how they interact with each other. So while the overall plot was a bit stale there where plenty of great little comedic moments to make me forget about that. I might be a little biased about the whole thing though as any time spent living in the world of Hey Arnold is good time spent in my books and this film definitely retains all the charm of the series.
