08 / The Grey / Joe Carnahan

Liam Neeson Versus Wolves. If that sentence doesn't make you want to watch The Grey then I don't know what is wrong with you. Obviously I'm being slightly facetious and The Grey is actually about a little bit more than just Liam Neeson fighting off wolves. The outline of the story is that a group of oil drillers are on a plain which crashes and they have to survive. Oh yeah did I mention the huge wolves as well. Ok I'll stop, the film is actually a really good and gritty depiction of downtrodden outcast men trying to deal life and whether or not they even want to survive. There are some really tender moments that I have to admit I wasn't expecting, but the film is definitely the better for them. It made me actually care about the characters and really ramped up the tension. In the end The Grey turned out to be a surprisingly touching and beautifully made film, that also have Liam Neeson being a bad ass and beating the shit out of wolves!
